Memeage for you!

God, I feel like I'm never online with the new job. It sucks mightily. I have internet, but I'm not allowed to check email/write/etc. And by the time I get home, I mostly just crash.

The only time I'm online is right around now, at the ass end of the morning. *shrug*

The job continues to be mostly unoffensive, aside from a couple of assclowns who are intent on annoying me. Fortunately, I only have to deal with one of them for another week. The other just needs a whack with a clue by four, which I'll get to eventually.

So, with a lack of things to do today, I offer you a meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] apetslife in honor of invisible illness week.

1. The illness(es) I live with are:
Spinal stenosis, level C4-C7, fibromyalgia.

2. I was diagnosed with it/them in the year:
2007 for the stenosis, and 2008 for the fibro

3. But I had symptoms since:
2002

4. The biggest adjustment I've had to make is:
Learning to deal with reduced (and wildly variable) limits.

5. Most people assume:
I always fear that most people assume that I'm just fat and lazy.

6. The hardest part about mornings is:
That they start early. I take Ambien to help me sleep, but the pain burns through it by 4:30-5:00 am. On the weekends, I can take drugs and sleep some more, but during the week, I just suck it up and get up.

7. My favorite medical TV show is:
None, really.

8. A gadget I couldn't live without is:
My blackberry. I can check my email at work and not feel so cut off.

9. The hardest part about nights is:
Finding a comfortable position that won't cause extra pain in the morning before the ambien knocks me out.

10. Each day I take [?] pills & vitamins.
Cymbalta, Ambien, Morphine, Tylenol, Oxycontin, Tramadol, Benadryl, Zanaflex, Symbicort, and possibly albuterol.

11. Regarding alternative treatments, I:
I didn't do so well with chiropractics or accupuncture, but Massage is awesome.

12. If I had to choose between an invisible illness and a visible one, I would choose:
Tough one. I would rather have one that's less painful, however it goes.

13. Regarding working and career:
I thought I'd explained everything, but apparently not, so I'll have to rectify that. I will not let this job turn into another clusterfuck of emotional abuse.

14. People would be surprised to know:
That I used to be able to knock out 12 pages of fic a day before the pain kicked in.

15. The hardest thing to accept about my new reality is:
That if I push it, I'll pay in a couple of days.

16. Something I never thought I could do with my illness was:
Work. But I'm managing.

17. The commercials about my illness:
SUCK! When I'm having a flare, I have been known to launch the tissue box at the TV for the perky middle-aged fibro commercials.

18. Something I really miss doing since I was diagnosed:
I used to be very adventurous. Now, not so much.

19. It was really hard to give up:
Rollercoasters!

20. A new hobby I've taken up since my diagnosis is:
Animal Rescue. Driving dogs to their rescues or new homes.

21. If I could have one day of feeling normal again, I would:
Go to some amusement park with cool rides.

22. My illness has taught me:
That finding the right doctor can change your whole life.

23. Want to know a secret? One thing people say (about my illness) that gets under my skin is:
Yuppie flu. Oh, I wish. Trust me, when I was a kid, I was a total hypochondriac. I would love for this to be a figment.

24. But I love it when people:
Offer to help me, save a few steps, etc.

25. My favorite motto, scripture, quote that gets me through tough times is:
I must be nice to myself. I am a child of the universe."

26. When someone is diagnosed I like to tell ask them:
Hey, how's your pain mgmt guy?

27. Something that has surprised me about living with an illness is:
How idiotic well meaning people, usually family can be.

28. The nicest thing someone did for me when I wasn't feeling well was:
Got me an icepack.

29. I'm involved with Invisible Illness Week because:
I have two invisible illnesses.

30. The fact that you read this list makes me feel:
Loved. *grin* And that maybe you're a little bit of a masochist.
