A good friend of a livejournal friend of [calicokat]'s is having a serious crisis which she's now un-friends-locked on her journal. I don't know her, although a quick look at her webpage revealed she's a Southern SCA girl librarian and I tend to consider that good people.
Short version? Over the course of the week, deza's mom threatened to euthanize her mobility dog and then attempted to kidnap her children while Deza -- separated from her husband who's on duty on a navy vessel -- was sick from a dose of MTX.
She had previously intended to move in with her mother, but when her mother told her her service dog wasn't welcome she had to make other plans. Yesterday, her mother told her that if she got her hands on the dog while Deza was too sick to notice, she'd have it euthanized. Then, today, Deza's mother decided the children would still be moving in with her, but she didn't ask Deza or her husband about it (which is legally called, you know, kidnapping).
Deza now has no way to pay for the movers coming tomorrow which her mother originally promised to finance. She and her husband are prepared to pay back loans (in fact, they originally intented to pay back her mother), but they have no short term funds on hand. She is "marna.m(a)gmail.com" on PayPal.
Seeing as Jess' family are former military, and her mom's disabled, this hit a little close to home for me, so I did donate.
